Topics covered in this unit were land, water, human needs, resources, reading pictographs, and ways to save these resources. The lessons in class including students making land and water maps, choosing three needs and deciding what resource these needs were fulfilled with, and depicting different ways people change the land. There were children's literature along with big book discussions centered on these and other related topics. At the end of this, students completed this assessment to show their learning. Aid was given in reading the questions. Students were responsible for representing their ideas through words or pictures. This was an opportunity to demonstrate their writing abilities along with their ability to retain the information given over the course of two weeks. There was a lot of information given in this unit. This was another way to gauge individual learning, and shows evidence of their learning for portfolios.
