Digital Curriculum
Digital Curriculum is a service offered to teachers at Marengo Elementary. I had never used this before, however it became a very useful tool in teaching. The digital curriculum offers many short videos, approximately fifteen minutes long. The system allows teachers to type in keywords, to see listings of the videos available. When reading some of the "Alexander" books by Judith Viorst, I incorporated the short stories on the digital curriculum.
For my weather unit, there were several informational clips about weather. The graphics were great. I also used the story Brave Irene, about a child who gets lost in a snowstorm. This story aided in the discussions we had about being safe and our feelings about different types of storms.
The opportunities were really endless. Because the videos are so short, they are easy to incorporate into the curriculum. The kids really liked them too!
