Assessment

Assessment of student performance is considered with each weather lesson.   Student participation and daily lessons provide opportunities for assessment.  By the end of the unit, students will have compiled a learning journal.  It will be complete with a weather chart, showing the week's weather, along with a weather graph.  Each student's journal will show a piece of work as evidence of their learning.  Students will, therefore, be evaluated for neatness and effort put forth in their journals.

Secondly, students will be assessed by participation in weather activities and discussion each day.  Students are expected to work whole group as well as prove their learning individually, in their journals.  There will be opportunity for discussion with children's literature, hands-on activities, and whole group discussion.  Therefore, students will be assessed by their ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and work individually.
